Hangzhou Iron and Steel Plant: A sleeping giant waiting to be awakened.
My graduation design project is centered around the Hangzhou Iron and Steel Plant, which has played a significant role in the industrial history of Hangzhou. The plant, which was established in the early 1950s, was once a symbol of China's rapid modernization and economic growth. However, as the country has shifted towards a more service-oriented economy, the plant has fallen into disuse and has become a symbol of China's changing economic landscape.
Final Goal of the project: The project seeks to reimagine the site of the Hangzhou Iron and Steel Plant as a dynamic and sustainable urban space that reflects the changing needs of the city and its inhabitants. By integrating elements of green space, public amenities, and sustainable design practices, my design aims to create a new vision for the site that celebrates its industrial history while also looking towards the future.
